Recommended 4 Bike Rack for Rear of 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

I was looking at your HR 4000 Destination 4 bike platform. It says not to use it on 5th wheels. Why is that? I am replacing the factory tube on the rear with a 5 x 5 steel tube that has a thicker layer of steel. Will this work?

The reason that the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 # HR4000 is not rated for use on a 5th wheel trailer is because of the additional lateral and horizonatal jostling that occurs on the back of a towed trailer. 5th wheel trailers, travel trailers and campers will have specific bike racks that have been tested for use and rated to withstand the additional movements at the rear of these trailers; the size of your hitch tube won't really effect this at all since the movement occurs with the shank of the carrier.

There aren't any platform racks like the Destination 4 that are rated for use on the back of a 5th wheel, but you can use the Yakima LongHaul RV Bike Rack - 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Silver # Y02476, which is rated for use on a 5th wheel trailer. This rack comes with both bike and hitch locks for added security, so you know your bikes will always be safe. In order to properly use a hanging rack you will need to use frame adapters like the Swagman # 64005 for any children's bikes or those with aggressive step through frames like a woman's bike, so that they can be carried level.

I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to have a look at, but this will be the best solution to carry your bikes on the back of a 5th wheel trailer.
