Question:
I am interested in the Curt Echo. If I need the ETBC7L wiring kit there are 4 wires to connect as well as the 4 pin plug. is the wire for the brake controller connected to the brake switch inside the cab or not used at all? what signal tells the controller to activate the brakes?

Expert Reply:
In regards to the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation part # ETBC7L for the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180, there are indeed four separate wires outside of the 4-way connector. There is a white wire for a ground, blue wire for brake output, yellow wire for reverse, and black wire for 12 volt power. The white wire and black wire are on the only ones that needed to be attached. The signal does not come from inside the vehicle but instead an internal inertia sensor.
