Recommended Leaf Spring Length for Single Axle Trailer Hanger Spacing of 22-1/2"

Question:

What size double eye leaf spring do I need for a trailer with existing mounting brackets that are 22.5 apart. The axle is a 2200 lb axle. This is for a small boat and I am redoing an old trailer

The best way to choose the correct replacement leaf spring for a trailer is to measure the existing spring. If this cannot be done however then you can get a good idea of what the spring length will be based on the hanger spacing but this is not as exact as the length of the shackle comes into play as well. If you measured the leaf springs hangers on center then I recommend using the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring part # SP-113275 which is 23-1/2" long. I'd also recommend the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs part # APS4 which comes with the rest of what you need even if you do not use the new hangers.
