How to Determine What 5th Wheel King Pin You Have to Determine Correct Reese Goose Box

Question:

Gentlemen thank you for your response and follow up. I was able to get additional information and hopefully this will help in deciding which Reese Gooseneck box to purchase. Unfortunately the fifth wheel and I are not in the same province and out of province travel is not permitted due to Covid-19. I have had to rely on the dealership providing the following. There are two pictures attached . The second picture shows it is a Lipert kingpin but does not show a model number but has a reference as LCI 190739639. The first picture I used to determine that it was "a long" pin in your schematic for measurements. The measurements I was able to have the dealership send me are attached as well. These measurements were 2A - 8 inches 2B - 2 1/4 inches (called as they measured incorrectly at first as shown in the attachment 3A - 17 3/4 inches 3B - 25 3/4 inches 3C - 12 inches 2F - shows 5 bolts with holes for six I do hope this is sufficient for you to provide direction on which Reese Gooseneck box (16,000lb) to order. As soon as I receive a response I will place an order. Thanking you in advance for your assistance

Although we don't have any way of knowing what king pin is on any specific trailer, but there should be on a sticker or a plate somewhere on the pin box itself that shows exactly what pin box model you have.

Barring that, you will need to either measure your bolt hole spacing as in the linked help article I added, or contact Forest River with your VIN and they will be able to tell you the pin box that was originally on it. You can use that information to determine what Reese Goose Box you need:

- Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD, as well as Fabex PB-600 Series pin box: Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP85FR (20,000 lb capacity)

- Lippert 0115, 1116 and 1716 pin boxes: Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP94716-61301 (16,000 lb capacity)

I have added links to video reviews of each Goose Box for you to check out as well.
