Installing Industry Standard Rail Compatible 5th Wheel Hitch on 2017 Silverado 3500 with OEM Pucks

Question:

I am considering trading trucks. I have a 2012 Silverado and use a 20K Reese 5th wheel hitch. I am looking at a 2017 Silverado 3500 that is 5th wheel prepped. Can you tell me whatI need to be able to continue to use my 5th wheel.

Expert Reply:

The Reese 20K hitch from your 2012 Silverado, assuming it uses industry standard mounting rails mounted to the bed floor can be used on a 2017 Silverado 3500 by using the Demco # DM6194 adapter. The adapter installs in the housing for the gooseneck ball, and provide a set of industry standard bed rails for your hitch to attach to.

Unfortunately, Reese doesn't offer a leg kit like what's used on the # RP30918 hitch that's compatible with the GM puck system.

I've linked to a product demonstration video that you might find helpful.
