How To Stop Trailer Proposing with 1970 Aristocrat Land Commander
Question:
Im towing a 1970 Aristocrat Land Commander, with my 2006 Lexus RX 400 Hybrid. Im well under the weight limit, and theres a constant forward and back motion. Ive deduced this is called chucking but can only find info on 5th wheel. Since Im towing a trailer with a ball hitch, Im hoping youll have some ideas on how to eliminate this. Thanks!

It sounds like you might actually be experiencing what is known as proposing instead of chucking which is more or less specific to fifth wheel trailers. If that's the case then this can be caused by a number of things such as weak or worn out suspension or improper loading of the trailer. I don't have any options to help stiffen the suspension on the vehicle so instead a weight distribution system, the Curt Trunnion Style Weight Distribution System part # 17300 with 2" Hitch Ball part # A-90 is what I recommend to correct the issue.
