Hitch Max Tongue Weight for 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7L V8
Question:
Hi. I am confused. I am looking different hitches including Curt hitch for my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X, V8-5.7L with heavy duty cooling system. I am confused as to what is my tongue weight capacity and towing capacity? Which hitch would permit the max consistent with the max tongue weight and towing capacity? Thank you in advance for your advice?

Helpful Expert Reply:
It appears the 5.7L V8 of your 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a towing capacity of 7,200 lbs. Your owners manual suggests 10% tongue weight of your trailer be on the hitch. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13182 has a capacity of 600 lbs without weight distribution or 750 lbs with weight distribution. This will allow the full capacity of your vehicle when partnered with a system like the Reese Strait-Line # RP66087. I've attached a couple help articles to assist.
For your wiring, the # C55774 for factory tow package or the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118727 if you don't have the tow package. To get the 7-way from the 4-way you will use # ETBC7. You will also want a brake controller like # C51180.
