Recommended Auto Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch and Air Bags for a 2019 Ram 2500

Question:

I have a 2019 Ram 2500 tradesmen, 6 and half ft bed. I’m going to install air bags to help with leveling. I don’t have the predrilled holes in the bed. I need a sliding fifth wheel rated at 20,000 lbs, that I don’t have to get out and release. I don’t want the top of the fifth wheel showing about the bed sides. I’m confused in the reading about can’t use on the lowest setting of the hitch and the ram box part. The camper is a 2018 Sierra by forest river. Thanks for any help!

The only sliding 5th wheel hitch we offer which does not require getting in and out of the truck bed for tight turns is the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # DM8550035 which has a 21,000 lb rating and can be used on a 2019 Ram 2500 with Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails part # DM8552025-71. In regards to hitch height settings, you can use the lowest option if needed but keep in mind this is not really a preference sort of thing so much so that it is to keep the trailer from coming into contact with the bedsides. For air bags, the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2598 is what I recommend and it'll work just fine with the above install kit.

Please note, if you have the RamBox feature you'll need to use a fixed 5th wheel hitch with rotating pin box instead.
