How to Add 7 Way Connector to 2011 Dodge Dakota with 4 Way Factory Plug
Question:
I have a 2011 Dakota with a factory 4 pin harness for trailer lights. I need to install a 7 pin connector to tow my boat trailer. Do you have a harness to accomplish this? I have a trailer controller from my old truck.

The 2011 Dodge Dakota came with a factory 7 way, so it's possible that you potentially had the 4 way installed aftermarket- but I have a way you can check. If your 4 way is plugged into a square plug similar to the one shown in the attached picture, you can use the 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket, Chrysler/Dodge OEM Plug Adapter # HM40975-11933 which will leave you with an active 4 way and also add a 7 way connector to your factory wiring.
If your 4 way isn't plugged into something like that, you'll need to use the # ETBC7 to add the 7 way connector on your 2011 Dodge Dakota.
I've linked the installation video of the ETBC7 on a similar Dakota as well as the photo mentioned above that you'll want to verify matches your plug.
