i have a 2010 vw tiguan wolfberg edition. the instructions want to know if it is a 2 wire or 3 wire system the and vehicle code. i dont know where to get this info

According to Tekonsha, the 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan needs to be wired using the BM-4 code in the instructions (linked for reference).

This would mean that the brake lights, turn signals, and tail lights are combined onto 1 circuit for each side of the vehicle. So you will attach the yellow wire for the converter to the left side wire on the vehicle that carries those 3 functions, the green wire attaches to the combine 3 function wire on the right side. The red and brown wires will ground with the white wire.

You will need to use the included circuit tester to test the wires on the vehicle to determine which one has all 3 circuits.
