Recommended Weight Distribution For a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer Towing 5400 Pound Trailer
Question:
I am looking for a weight distribution hitch for my 04 Chevy Trailblazer. Our Travel Trailer fully stocked is about 5400 lbs w/about 750 lbs of tongue weight. I am not sure which one would work best for me.

For a trailer with 750 pounds tongue weight, I recommend a system rated for 600 to 1,200 pounds. In addition to the trailer tongue weight, you have to add top that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. That can increase the tongue weight so the wide range of 600 to 1,200 pound systems is the best bet.
If you like the Reese systems, you can use # 49570. The only thing you will need to add to this system is a properly sized ball for the coupler. For a 2 inch diameter ball use # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball use # 19286.
If you wanted to add sway control you can use # 83660. I have included a link to our FAQ article on weight distribution and sway control for you.
