Wider Replacement Trailer Tire Options for 4.80x12 Tires

Question:

Hello I am looking to add some wider tires to my small trailer I use in the woods on my property. The trailer is a small 40x48 platform with wooden sides and skinny tires. I’m looking to get more flotation on soft surfaces. The current wheel/tire set up is 4 on 4 with 4.8-12 tires. The offset of the rim is centered. Do you have anything wider with the correct offset for clearance? I was looking at the off-road gold cart wheel/tire combo you have but my concern was clearance. Thank you

Expert Reply:

In order to replace the 4.80x12 trailer tires which measure 20.7" diameter x 4.9" wide in light of a wider option, I recommend a 225/55-12 the Kenda 225/55B12 Bias Golf Cart Tire part # AM1HP60 in particular which measures 21.8" diameter x 8.9" wide. I don't have any wheels with offset for this size so if you don't have the additional clearance you can go with a 5.30x12, the Kenda K353 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM10066 which measures 21.9" diameter x 5.6" wide.
