Can Demco Hijacker Autoslide Capture Plates Be Removed for Non-Sliding Function?

I have a long wheel base truck, can i remove the capture plates and just use the pivot feature on the head? Is there an option to prevent it from sliding and only using the pivot feature.

Since you are talking about capture plates, it sounds like you have a Demco Hijacker Autoslide like # DM8550038. There is not a locking option for that hitch to be used like a standard non-sliding hitch. It isn't an issue to use that hitch with a long wheel base truck, but you can't change its features.
