Operation of Curt TruTrack WD System With Brackets Closer Than Recommended
Question:
I purchased the curt 17501 hitch and currently pull a 9,000 pound trailer with 1200 pound hitch weight. I have the head adjusted at full tilt. I was not able to mount the frame brackets at the preferred distance from the hitch I have about 8 inches from end of bar to bracket. I still get sway. If I can get the brackets at the desired 4 inch from end of bar will this improve the sway control?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # C17501 is not within the designated operational specs so yet getting the brackets in the correct location will help a great deal with sway control and dispersing the tongue weight. The system is designed for specific measurements and pressure/leverage for correct operation. If you can't get the brackets to work at the required locations let me know and we can look at other options to control sway like the Curt Electronic Sway Control System # C94VV if you have electric trailer brakes.
