How To Power Trailer Battery Charge Line Only While Vehicle Is Running Using 4 to 7-Way Adapter
Question:
I want to have 12v to the new 7-wire round only while the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee is running. All the info. I can find says connect it thru the inline breaker directly to the battery. Is there an accessory terminal somewhere on the fuse block under the hood? This truck had no towing package from the factory, but does have the aftermarket 4-wire flat that I am going to run to the new 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole adapter, Item # 37185.

In order to have the trailer battery charge line circuit keyed (only on with ignition) on a vehicle without tow package you will indeed need to run a power wire to the battery from the trailer connector. I recommend the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation part # ETBC7L. However, you'll also need the Battery Isolation Solenoid part # PK5231201 which will tie into a keyed circuit on the vehicle like the ignition to shut power off the battery charge line while the vehicle is turned off.
There isn't any sort of keyed circuit on the vehicle that allows you to charge the trailer battery with directly.
