Installation of Lippert SolidSteps with Screen Door Pressure

Question:

we just installed your lippert stairs and they are great. We have a 29 5/8 door opening and you had suggested we get the smaller size but I wish we had gotten the larger size to fit more of the doorway. Also we seem to have an problem with the screen door closing, there is a lot of pressure on the hinge side of the door. Is there anything we can do about this? We dont want to cause any issues from too much pressure on the doors for travel.

If there is pressure on the hinge side of the door and screen door from the steps it sounds like the mounting plate wasn't installed far enough back from the door. All the weight of the stairs should be on the floor with just slight securing for stability on the sides of the door frame. If you are stating that the screen door touches the frame of the steps and doesn't latch for travel, that is not an issue as the exterior door is latched and the stairs won't be moving. I've attached a customer photo of how it should look.
