Can Switch be Installed on Power Wire of Prodigy P3 Controller to Keep it From Draining Battery

Question:

I have a question on the p3 controller. I have it wired up per the instructions and the video listed on your website for my 2015 GMC Canyon. When the brake pedal is pressed with the key off, the controller lights up. I know there is a 15 min time delay before it turns on. My question is, can I wire a switch on the power wire as a disconnect when not using so it does not turn on?

Technically you could install a switch on the black power wire of the P3 # 90195 to keep it from drawing power, but the problem with that is that when the power is removed it loses all of it's settings. The P3 draws very little power when the vehicle is off and it would take a few weeks of the truck just sitting there for the brake controller to drain the battery so unless you're only going to be using the vehicle a few times a month then there won't be a real benefit to adding that switch, especially since you'll need to re-calibrate the brake controller whenever you plug it back in.
