Installing Rightline Roof Cargo Bag on Honda Fit
Question:
My crossbars are not too far apart as per Thule instructions only about 25inch all of these cargo bags are longer than that is it okay to let the cargo bag sit ON TOP of the back crossbar as opposed to INBETWEEN the cross bars as the photos show on larger vehicles?

Expert Reply:
As long as the Cargo Bag is securely attached to both the front and rear crossbars, installing the bag as you mentioned is perfectly acceptable.
Before placing the bag on your roof, make sure that the underside of the bag and the roof are perfectly clean and free of dirt and grit to prevent scratching. Applying a good coat of quality car wax to the roof will also help protect your roof. Rightline also offers a skid-proof protective mat, part # RL100650 which would provide some protection for your roof.
