Parts Needed to Add 7-Way Trailer Connector for Brake Controller on 2001 Chrysler Town and Country

Question:

I am wiring my sons 2001 Chrysler Town and Country Touring so that he can tow my popup camper trailer. I have my van, which is identical, as a model. It was wired by the trailer dealer and works great! I have a Tekonsha Primus IQ 90160 brake controller, which can be removed from my vehicle by poping it out of the mount and unplugging the 4 wire connector. I will let him use my controller. I would like to get the four wire connector for the Primus to install in his van and all the other things I need to make the 7 wire connection. I know I will need the wiring harness for the brake controller mentioned above, wire, fuse holders to fuse the charging line and the brake line, ring connectors to hook to the battery, wire connectors to hook up wires, a 7 blade connector for the vehicle vehicle already has 4 wire connection which I will cut off and wire into 7 wire connector and a bracket to mount the 7 blade connector on the hitch. Can I buy a generic connector for the Primus as I dont think the Chrysler van has a connector to plug into? I did not see such a connector on your Web site with 4 bare wires. Also, I have fuses protecting the brake line and brake controller supply line on my van, 30A and 20A respectively. I do not see 30A fuse holders on your Web site. Can I use a 30A circuit breaker? Is that better than a fuse? Thanks for your help. Waiting for your reply to place my order and get this project going!

We have just about everything you are going to need packaged in one kit. Take a look at the 4 and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. This kit is going to provide a 7-Way (the existing 4-Way will just plug into the 4-Way receptacle on the adapter) and it comes with all the wiring and circuit breakers you will need to wire in the brake controller.

The only other parts you will need are a circuit tester like # PTW2993 unless you already have one, the wiring harness for the controller, # 20127, and a mounting bracket to secure the controller in the new vehicle.

I have included some links that show and explain the installation of the ETBC7 kit.
