Question:

will the TH45JV or the th65JV fit on a 2011 Honda CRV...my concern is the faux plastic bumper for base support and the thickness of the hatch bottom for a spot to hook on I appreciate your help.

For exactly the reason you stated, Thule states that none of their trunk mounted racks will work with your 2011 Honda CR-V. Yakima states a few of their trunk-mount racks will fit. Occasionally, we will have one manufacturer state that the vehicle is compatible with a trunk mount rack, and the other will say that it is not. In that case, I typically do not recommend using a trunk mount.

Installing a hitch and using a hitch-mounted bike rack would be your best bet. If you were only wanting to carry two bikes, and had no future plans on towing anything, the Draw-Tite Class I hitch, part # 24792 would be an economical option. We have numerous bike racks that are compatible with a Class I hitch, if you like a rack that carries the bikes so that they are hanging from from the crossbar like the OutWay # TH45JV, the Swagman Trailhead part # S63360 would be a good choice for you. If you like a platform type rack like the OutWay # TH65JV, the Swagman XTC-2, part # S64670 would work well for you.

If you were wanting to carry more than 2 bikes, you would need a Class III receiver like the Draw-Tite # 75547.
