The Thule cargo basket will sit approximately 8 inches above the crossbars on any given vehicle. To determine if it will fit your 2012 Toyota 4Runner Trail Edition, you will need to take some measurements.
Measure the the center to center distance between the bars. This basket fits crossbar spreads between 20 inches to 37 inches. It fits most setups. The wider the spread the better support for the basket. I have included a video review for you.
