I checked with the manufacturer, and the CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting for Bunk Boards - Black - 18' Long x 18" Wide # CE11349 has a 16.1 oz per square yard weight.

As for the backing, the material on the back of the carpeting is the same as the front, but it is a bit more matted down than the front.
