I would recommend you start by using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 and test the pins on your trailer connector while each function is activated. If you find that you are not getting a signal on the turn signal/ brake light circuits, use the tester to test the wires going into the converter box. If you have signal going into the box, but not exiting, the converter is bad and must be replaced.
Before replacing the T-1 Harness, you'll want to carefully examine the wiring on your trailer. If the converter has been damaged, there is most likely a short circuit somewhere in your trailer wiring that caused the converter to fail. You will want to look for any loose connections, pinched wires, or any wiring with cracked or worn insulation that would allow the copper conductor to come into contact with the trailer frame and short out. You will also want to examine the trailer connector for damage. The manufacturer offers a 1-year warranty on this product. If it was purchased less than one year ago, please contact one of our Customer Service Professionals to arrange for warranty replacement.
