How to Tow 5th Wheel Trailer With 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 That Has Gooseneck Hitch
Question:
I own a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 short wheel base truck. I also have a 60 gallon diesel/tool box combo in bed. I own a 37 1/2 ‘ Heartland Gateway 5th wheel. I have an after market BandW turnover ball installed which is 4-6” in front of axle towards cab. My pin box on trailer is a Lippert 1621 pin box. I have very limited space between ball and tool box, 10”. I need a gooseneck hitch that will fit this and pull my trailer well. I work out of state and will be leaving soon. Please recommend which is hitch will work best for me. Thank you....

Thank you for the information and we do have a solution for you to pull your 5th wheel trailer with the unique setup on your 2016 Chevy Silverado, though the only fifth wheel hitch that will fit your truck is not going to work due to not having enough clearance from the gooseneck ball to the tool box.
So the only way for you to tow your Heartland 5th wheel with a Lippert 1621 pin box is by adding the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP85FR.
This is going to replace your standard 5th wheel pin box and will allow you to use your gooseneck hitch to tow your trailer. It will also give you the beneifti of getting an improved ride with air bag that cushions shock. You will also need the Reese Safety Chain Kit with Clevis Hooks # RP49151.
If you need more room I also recommend considering the 4" Offset Ball for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitches # BWGNXA4085.
I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well of the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP94720.
