Question:

Hello, Im curious to know which of the platform style hitch mounted bike racks can be converted from 2 to 4 bikes? Also, do you have any preferences for the various models that can do this? Thanks!

There are a few platform style bike racks that can be converter from 2 bike racks into 4 bike racks. I'll provide a short list below:

- Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HR1450Z and add on # HR1475Z or # HR1400Z (complete 4 bike rack)
- Swagman Swagman Quad 2+2 2-Bike and 4-Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches # S64FR
- Kuat NV 2.0 4-Bike Platform Rack # NV22G-NA22G
- Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH69TX can be set up as a 2-bike or 4-bike as needed.

My personal favorite out of these is the Thule T2 Pro XTR which has a wheel carriages that provide you with the flexibility to carry bikes of all sizes and the heavy duty steel construction makes it extremely sturdy. The heavy duty steel tube give this rack the ability to carry heavier fat tire and e-bikes with a per bike capacity of up to 60-lbs, so it's built to last. Additionally, since this rack secures the bikes by the wheels, instead of the bike frame, it's also ideal if you have any bikes with carbon frames. This rack does come with a locking hitch pin and locks for the bikes in order to keep the bikes secure. Thule Racks are backed up by their Lifetime Limited Warranty, so they're built to withstand the test of time.

If you're looking for the best value rack, the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE is a good option that combines light weight and convertibility, plus the adjustable wheel cradles make it easy to load the bikes of all sizes. The Sport Rider SE has a 50-lbs per bike capacity, so it also has the ability to handle some heavier bikes if you have them, but it's not really ideal if you have anything extremely heavy- like an e-bike. This rack also comes with both a hitch lock and locks to keep the bikes secure, so it gives you a lot of bang for your buck. This rack also comes with a Lifetime Limited Warranty.

I've linked some videos on all of these racks for you to have a look at, as well, in case you'd like to see them in action.
