Worm Gear Winch Recommendation for Hoisting a 150 lb Float

Question:

I need to lift a 150 lb float from the water 8 feet up to the under side of my dock where it hanges. I presently am lifting it by hand but I am 74 years old and a winch on each side will really help. I want to ratchet the float up and ratch it back down. Please abvise. Most consider me very handy. This plan will work well with the right winches.

Based on what you are doing I would recommend you use a Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear Hand Winch # DL10954. Worm gear winches are great for hoisting things because the load cannot reverse the direction of the winch and there is no free wheel option. Check out the review video for this product for you.

For a cable I would recommend you get a Hand Winch Cable with Safety Hook # DL24100.
