Supplemental Braking System to Flat Tow a 2010 jeep Wrangler Unlimited Behind a Motor Home
Question:
Is the hayes energizer III suitable to use to tow a 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited? I have a 2007 Winnebago journey as the tow vehicle. Any unique requirements?

For flat towing a vehicle, you will need a special type of supplemental braking system. A regular brake controller is deigned for electric trailer brakes, not hydraulic vehicle brakes. Most states now require a system on a vehicle that is being towed behind a motor home. there are several different types of systems. I have included a link to an FAQ article that should help you.
The best system for your Jeep and Winnebago Journey is the Air Force One # SM99243 because the Winnebago has air brakes. Using a system not designed for air brakes can cause false braking and additional wear on the Jeep. You won't have this problem with the Air Force One.
You will also want to consult the vehicle owners manual for the proper towing procedure of your Jeep. Depending on the type of transmission you have there can be special parts needed to flat tow it.
