The trailer wiring harness I recommend for a 2006 Jeep Liberty is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C55382 because it offers plug-play installation. It provides all the of the required lighting functions for a trailer and you don't even have to worry about running a power wire. Please note, in order to mount the trailer connector outside the vehicle you'll also need the Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat part # 18144.
The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 42475 is only for models with the tow package.
