If you're wanting to install a brake controller on your 2000 Toyota Tundra then you'll need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 for a traditional brake controller, like the Primus IQ # TK90160 that was referenced. This gives you a fully-functional 7-Way.
For a newer brake controller like the Curt Echo # C51180 you'll need the Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L which just plugs into your dealer installed 4-Way and then you run the black wire to your vehicle battery to power the controller and to send power to the brakes. This is definitely easier to install than the traditional controller since it's wireless and you use your Apple/Android smart phone to adjust and monitor the brakes so if ease of installation is something you're wanting then this would be the way to go.
I've attached some installation and review videos for you to check out as well.
