Supplemental Breaking System and Lighting Kit to Flat Tow 2013 Honda Fit

Question:

Hi, My Rv has the Blue Ox towing system so I bought the bumper beam from etrailer for my 2013 Honda Fit and about to order the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional, Item # SM99251. My question is what else do I need? Im thinking I need tow bar wiring like the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit? Is that correct? Anything else before I start this project that Im going to need? Thanks! -

For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.

The SMI DUO part # SM99251 you are thinking about is the way to go. This is our installers favorite kit as it installs easily and works really well. I attached an install video for this on a similar 2011 Honda Fit for you to check out as well.

You have the tow bar, base plate kit, braking, and now the lighting covered so you'd be good to go!
