Routing Power Wire of Curt Trailer Wiring Harness for 2011 Mazda CX9

There is a black wire and a yellow wire with a red stripe... Which one is the power wire?

Sounds like you are looking for a circuit to route the power wire of the trailer wiring harness # 56016 to instead of running it up to the vehicle battery. We have to recommend you stick with running the power wire to the vehicle battery.
Not all vehicles can handle the additional amperage draw of the trailer taillights on the vehicle taillight circuits. Those vehicles need a setup that draws power from the battery. Some vehicles have higher rated circuits that can handle this, and others need to have the power drawn straight from the battery to protect the taillight circuits. This also helps prevent a trailer wiring short from damaging the vehicle wiring as well.
In order to actually retain the full circuit protection you have to run the power wire to the battery. I attached an install video for this kit for you to check out as well.
