Solution for Fifth Wheel Trailer that is Nose High but Has 6 inches of Bed Rail Clearance

Question:

I have a 2017 ford f 250 superduty diesel 4x4 with a 6 3/4 ft. box and 5th wheel factory prep pkg. Reese hitch. My 5th wheel is a 2008 28ft. Topaz, with having the 6 in. clearance at the end of the box the trailer is riding at least 3.5 in high on the front. What options do I have to get the trailer to ride level? Sorry no pics. Thanks

You'll need to lift the trailer suspension to allow the trailer to sit level and also retain the minimum 6 inches of clearance you have now between the trailer overhang and the truck's bed rails. For that much lift you'd need to go with an over-under kit which will move your axles down below your leaf springs.

The diameter of your trailer axle will determine the size of the parts that you will need to order. If your axle is 3 inches diameter, the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit, # K71-385-00, would be a great choice and if your axle is 2-3/8 inch diameter you could use the Over-Under Kit, # K71-384-00. These kits can be installed without welding but the manufacturer strongly recommends having the new spring seat tacked in place on the other side of the trailer axle.
