Troubleshooting a Brake Controller on 2017 Silverado 1500 Factory Brake Controller
Question:
my truck didnt come with the trailer components, all the wiring was in place but not he connections, I have added the rear connection for the wiring harness, and the front factory controller, when I plug in a curt 7 pin tester everything lights up as I would think it should, except when I pinch the controller nothing lights upon the tester...when I press the brakes the brake light on the tester lights up. looks like the fuses are there, but I dont have a trailer screen on my dash either. do I need programming for the truck, or am I doing something wrong.

It sounds like you are trying to install a factory brake controller. If that is the case and everything is working just not sending the power to the back of the truck to power the brakes. Run a lehgth of 12 gauge wire part # 12-1-1 sold by the foot from the output on the brakecontroller under the dash to the pin in the 5 o'clock position on the 7-way that you installed. This will make a direct connection and allow you to use your controller. I've attached a photo for you to check out on that pin location.
