Trailer Hitch and Lightweight Cargo Carrier Recommendation for a 2020 Toyota Highlander LE
Question:
Good Morning, What would recommend for a 2020 Highlander LE FWD? I need a trailer hitch and cargo carrier. I need a lighter cargo carrier - that can be easily removed when not in use . I would be using it for small loads ie dump runs, so would a basket type would be best ? Thank you.

The best combination for you to carry a lightweight cargo carrier behind your 2020 Toyota Highlander is the Curt Trailer Hitch # C99FR and the 22-1/2x49 Curt Cargo Carrier, Item # C18113. Both of these have a 500 lb tongue weight rating which look to match up with the max rating of your vehicle - you will want to double check this in your owner's manual though just to be on the safe side.
The Curt hitch features a hidden crosstube so all you're going to see is the receiver. This means you're going to have a nice clean OEM look without losing any functionality. Curt also tends to have higher quality welds and a thicker powder coat compared to a lot of other hitch options available.
The Curt cargo carrier I mentioned has a steel shank but the basket is aluminum which keeps the overall weight right at 25 lbs. If we compare that to the 48 lb steel etrailer Carrier # e98874 it is a significant difference, and I was really impressed the first time I got my hands on the aluminum carrier.
I am attaching a review video of the aluminum carrier for you to check out.

since the steel hitch tube goes all the way to the back of this cargo carrier, would I be able to modify and have my 2" bike rack install in tandem with this carrier?
