Troubleshooting Prodigy P3 on 2012 Toyota Tacoma Where Brakes Do Not Lock With Manual Override
Question:
Bought a new 6 x 14 double axle trailer with brakes on both axles. Bought the Prodigy P3 and installed it today. Everything on the unit seems to be working correctly but with the power set all the way on 13 it will not slide the trailer wheels. It will slow trailer down but not lock up. Any suggestions??

Since everything seems to be functioning correctly otherwise with your new Prodigy P3 # 90195, I would start by examining the brakes; this could be a magnet wiring problem and if the wiring is not properly connected it could cause the brakes not to fully engage. Make sure that the magnets are properly grounded to a clean, bare metal surface free of corrosion. A bad ground on the magnets would not allow the circuit to be complete and lead to the brakes not performing like they should.
With that being said, I would lean towards your brakes being out of adjustment as the cause of this problem. You want to adjust the assemblies so that there is a light drag when the trailer wheels are off the ground and the wheel is turned. To see how this is done check out the video I attached. Fast forward to the 4:30 mark.
