I'd be happy to help with that. The blue, white, yellow, dark green tow package wires will connect to the like color wires on the new plug you're using. The white wire is ground, the blue wire (should be light blue) carries a brake signal for a 3rd brake light on a camper shell, yellow carries left turn/brake lamp, and the dark green carries the right turn/brake lamp. The light green wire you mentioned is for reverse lamps, and would connect to the purple wire you mentioned, but if your trailer doesn't have reverse lamps, you don't need to connect it. Also, if there's a dark blue and a black or orange wire in the tow package harness, the dark blue carries the output from the brake controller and the black or orange carries constant 12 volt power, which might be needed for trailer mounted accessories or to provide a maintenance charge to a trailer mounted battery.
I'll link you to a help article that includes diagrams for trailer connectors.
