Replacement PWC Trailer Tires for Size 4.80-12

Question:

My current trailer tires are 4.8-12 and used to carry a single 2008 Yamaha FXHO waverunner a few miles to the gas station and back. I launch and recover from a private ramp where the waverunner is kept. The tires are probably original and show some cracking and air loss over the winter. I may a some point, tow it down to the beach a few hours away for a weekend. What replacement tires do you recommend? Is it worth it to go to a larger size? Is it worth it to get a tire/rim combo vs just the tire galv rims appear in good shape? Thanks

Since the wheels are in good shape I would recommend just replacing the tires with a pair of the part # TT48012C which will work great. These radials have more than enough weight capacity and a higher speed rating and would give you the simplest way to get your trailer back on the road. The advantages of going to a larger wheel and tire are mainly higher weight capacity which you wouldn't need so I wouldn't think it would be a worth your money to go that way.

Also worth noting is that trailer tires should be replaced at 6 years at the most to prevent tire cracking and premature failure.
