Does the Curt Upgraded Circuit Protected Powered Tail Light Converter Draw Power While Not In Use
Question:
Hi, I recently had Curt #C56496 installed on my 2018 Hyundai Kona. My question is: the installer added a 10 amp inline fuse to my battery from the rear via power convertor wire, can I pull the 10 amp fuse out to disable the convertor and will other wiring from the convertor spliced to tail/brake/signals on car be affected? Only want curt#56496 connected in summer months. Thanks,

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Curt Upgraded Circuit Protected Powered Tail Light Converter - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C56496 only draws power from the vehicle while a trailer is attached and the lights are activated. Therefore, you don't have to worry about it draining your battery without a trailer attached. If you choose, you could remove the inline fuse on the power wire that leads from the battery to the converter box but this would not really have any affect so I just recommend you leave it inside the fuse holder even when only using the vehicle for towing during the summer.
