Why do Safety Chains Have to be Behind Fulton Fold-Away Coupler
Question:
If the hinge kit is such a good and reliable product, why do the safety chains have to be moved to behind it?

Expert Reply:
The chains need to be to the rear of the coupler of the Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit for 3" x 3" Tongue - Bolt On - Up to 5,000 lbs # FHDPB330301 because it is a DOT regulation, for which quality and reliability of a product has no bearing. Specifically it requires the chains to be attached to "any point to the rear of the attachment point" based on my research.
I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well of the Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit # FHDPB330301.
