Will New Weight Distribution Spring Bars Fit in an Old Style Head

Question:

2011 Ford F150 towing Forest River Surveyor Select SV264. I am currently using 1000 lb bars in my 61241 head. Both spring bars have the notches in the end in the same position relative to the length or body of the bars. I will be changing to RP58115 1200 lb bars. Will both bars have the notches cut in the same way? My father had a WDH that I helped to hook up many, many times. His bars were left and right.

New bars are not left or right, they can be used on either side. The new bars will not fit in the old style head so you would need to replace the head as well as the spring bars. If you go that route than it would be better to just replace the whole system, get all new parts, because the cost is about the same.

For a system rated for 600 to 1,200 pounds tongue weight you can use # 49570. This system includes the shank so you would just need a properly sized ball, # A-90 for a 2 inch diameter or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch diameter ball.
