Will Friction Sway Control Benefit Strait-Line Weight Distribution System for 9,000 lb Trailer
Question:
Are there any benefits or negative effects to using the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit - Economy - by Draw-Tite, Reese and Hidden Hitch Item # 83660 in conjunction with the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW Item # RP66084? Would using both of these systems together provide better anti sway and handling or would they work against each other? 2015 Ram 1500 pulling a 33’ travel trailer around 9000# gvw.

Expert Reply:
The sway control offered by the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System with Sway Control # RP66084 is going to be all that you need. Adding friction sway control isn't going to give you any noticeable benefits so I recommend saving some money and only adding the Strait-Line.
This is the perfect unit for your 9,000 lb GVWR trailer and comes with everything you need for installation except the hitch ball; for that you'd need 2" Hitch Ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 19286 depending on the size hitch ball your trailer's coupler takes.
I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well of the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System with Sway Control # RP66084.
