Looks like you've got it just about worked out the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 14001 is a confirmed fit for your 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 so that's a lock. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 is an awesome brake controller and will work great using the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers part # ETBC7 . the one thing I would add is the Curt No-Drill Bracket part # C57202 this will give you an attachment point for your 7-Way connector to attach to using the bracket in the ETBC7 Kit.
The ETBC7 kit requires a working 4 way flat connector to be on the vehicle if you don't have that also add the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118329 this will plug in directly to the factory plugs behind your taillights and give you those functions required.
Happy Hauling!
