Comparison of 5th Wheel Install Brackets for 2018 Ram 2500

Question:

What makes the RP56009-53 installation kit easier to install vs. the RP50054-58? I know it says the rails are longer, but how does that ease installation?

The # RP56009-53 kit does have longer 48 inch rails compared to the 43 inch rails with # RP50054-58 but this isn't what makes them easier to install.

Part # RP56009-53 is an outboard kit. This means the brackets install on the outside of the frame rails making the mounting locations easier to access. With that being said, on this generation of Ram the standard # RP50054-58 brackets are mostly on the outside of the frame too so the difference isn't as dramatic as with some other trucks. It is easier to torque the bolts with the outboard kit, especially the front rail because of the fuel tank on the driver's side.
