Is a Sliding 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Needed in a 2019 RAM 3500 DRW 8 Foot Bed

Question:

I just upgraded my tow vehicle to a 2019 RAM 3500 8foot bed - debating between a slider or fixed. My new truck has the OEM puck system. I am comparing the BandW slider BWRVK3670 or the BandW BWRVK3600 I would definitely would get the slider if i had a 6.5foot bed, but do I need it with an 8foot ??? Also is there and advantage to a slide in an 8foot bed

I'll make this easy on you, get the fixed hitch, part # BWRVK3600. You're correct the slider, part # BWRVK3670, is for a short bed truck for more turning clearance but you're not going to need it with the long bed.

The exception, and since your truck is brand new this doesn't really apply to you, would be if you're going to get a short bed truck soon then maybe get the slider for future use and just not slide it back in the long bed.
