Installing a Brake Controller on my 2005 E-350 Chassis Motorhome

Question:

I have a Tekonsha voyager brake controller installed. It is plugged in via the connector located at the left foot panel driver side. However, at the rear the 7 pole flat receptacle only has four wires. White, yellow, green and brown. All functions work. I have tested the controller, and verified power supply at controller connection. Led will go green then red when controller voltage increases. Is there a factory connection somewhere to get the brake supply power to 7 pole receptacle? Or should I just cut red and blue wires from controller and hard wire? Red to brake light switch and blue to 7pole receptacle?

Expert Reply:

In your situation with the Brake signal having no way to get to the 7-Way plug on the back of your coach you will want to run your own wire. I recommend using the 12 Gauge Black Primary Wire part # 12-1-1 to connect from the blue wire off the controller to the blue wire coming off the back of your 7-way connector using DW05745-5 to make the connection at each end. Because your controller is responding properly otherwise you should not have to do anything with the red stoplight switch wire.
