Does Reese Goose Box Move Trailer Closer to Truck

Question:

Reese goose box. I have a Keystone cougar 244rls and a long bed dodge 2500 with a flatbed. I am wanting to switch to goose neck but I need to know if the goose box is going to move my trailer closer to the rear of the truck. in a 45* turn with a pickup box and bumper i about 8” clearance. I don’t want to crowd it and cause damage.

A Reese Goose Box is not going to move your trailer closer to your Dodge Ram 2500. For example, as you can see by the accompanying photos the Reese Goose Box # RP94720 measures about 18-1/2 inches from the first bolt holes to the center where the ball attaches while the pin box it replaces, the Lippert 1621 # LC1191191 pin box it replaces measures a very similar 17-3/4 inches from the first bolt holes to the center of the king pin.

To determine what the correct Reese Goose Box is for your trailer, you simply need to know what pin box you currently have, which should be on a sticker or a plate somewhere on the pin box itself.

- Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD, as well as Fabex PB-600 Series pin boxes: Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP85FR (20,000 lb capacity)

- Lippert 0115, 1116 and 1716 pin boxes: Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP94716-61301 (16,000 lb capacity)

I have added links to video reviews of each Goose Box for you to check out as well.
