Replacement Motor For Venture Landing Gear on Fleetwood Redline 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2007 fleetwood redline 335 fifth wheel toyhauler and I think the landing gear motor is going bad. It has a single motor setup and it uses a LCI PN 142178 on it currently. Is this a good motor or are there better options available. From the time I bought the trailer I knew the motor was probably going bad because it sounded weak and would cut out when I was extending the gear. I would have to wait a little while before I could go back to using the landing gear, my guess was the motor was hot and was cutting out. What do you think, any insight is helpful. Additionally the last time I used the trailer the bolt that goes through the axle shaft and gear pin snapped so I couldn’t raise the landing gear arm on the opposite side. What should I replace that bolt with, something hard that won’t snap again or is it designed to do that so it doesn’t tear up something else? Also if the existing motor is good enough I am happy with that I just don’t want to have to worry about it again for a while.

The first thing to do is to make sure you are getting sufficient power to the motor and a good ground. If you have checked the wiring and still experience the motor cutting out I do recommend to replace it with Lippert Components Venture 5th Wheel RV Landing Gear Motor part # LC142178.

When you say gear pin snapped, I believe you are talking about the pin from the gear box. We do have the Lippert Components Venture Lead Leg Repair Kit for 5th Wheel RV Landing Gear part # LC146059 to repair that.
