Parts Needed to Add 7 Way Trailer Connector on 2019 Mercedes GLS450

Question:

I need the trailer hitch wiring ending in a 7 blade connector for this vehicle. Mercedes typical response is a wire loom p/n 1665401403 and a 7 pin to 7 pin connector p/n 0008211856 that does not interface to the wire loom. Any help is seriously appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds like you're trying to add a 7 way connector to your 2019 Mercedes GLS450. I have a solution for you but there are no "plug and play" style connectors available for these vehicles so we'll need to cobble together some pieces to make this work- you'll need to first install a 4 way flat connector and then add in the 7 way.

To start, I recommend using the Tekonsha ZCI # 119250KIT which allows you to clamp onto the wiring on your GLS450 to receive the signals you need to install and operate a 4 way trailer connector. I highly recommend this kit for high end luxury vehicles because of the non-invasive and easy installation. If you're willing to do some hard wiring on the vehicle you can use the Curt # C59236 to install your 4 way connector.

Once you've installed your 4 way, I recommend using the # ETBC7L which will allow you to use a wireless brake controller like the Curt Echo Mobile # C51180 or no brake controller at all if you're just looking to provide lights to your trailer. Using this 7 way connector is not an option if you have a wired brake controller for your vehicle like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195; if you're using a wired brake controller you'll instead need to use the # ETBC7 kit for wired brake controllers. Both of these kits will provide you with a 7 way "blade" style connector for your vehicle.

Using the provided 4 way and 7 way options will allow you to install a working 7 way blade style connector on your 2019 Mercedes Benz GLS 450. I've linked some helpful installation and review videos on these items that you might find helpful during the installation process that you might want to have a look at, as well.
