Ball Mount with 2-5/8" Rise/3-1/4" Drop for Class I Trailer Hitch
Question:
The locking pin hole is perhaps 1 1/2 “ from the front of the hitch so the draw bar does not go in very far Does that sound right?

From the center of the hitch pin hole to the back part of the shank measures 2" for the Draw-Tite Ball Mount # 36071. While the Draw-Tite does fit a 1-1/4" hitch receiver, it's designed for at least a Class II receiver which is why that end portion is a little longer. Some Class I trailer hitches have a stop built in which will keep this option from working.
For a Class I ball mount that has the same dimensions we have the Curt # C45022. This measures 1-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the shank. Attached is a review video where this measurement is given, and I've attached photos of both options for you to check out.
