Can 2018 Chevy Equinox All Wheel Driver Model Be Flat or Dolly Towed
Question:
Is the above vehicle towable on a tow dolly if the AWD button is not engaged?

Expert Reply:
According to the owner's manual, only Diesel AWD models are capable of being flat towed, and AWD equipped vehicles are not capable of being dolly towed. Otherwise, the only way to tow the vehicle without damage is on a trailer.
I've done some research, and haven't been able to locate any references that indicate that shutting off the AWD system would enable the vehicle to be dolly towed, I'm sorry to say.
If the vehicle is a Diesel, to flat tow it you'd need a tow bar, base plates, safety cables, a wiring harness kit, a supplemental braking system and maybe a high/low adapter. I'd recommend:
Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523193-5
Tow Bar: Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522
Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 if the Equinox is a Premier model or # RM-152-LED if the Equinox isn't a Premier model
Supplemental Braking System: Roadmaster InvisiBrake, # RM-8700. The # RM-751489 stoplight switch would also be needed
You may also need a high-low adapter in order to keep your Equinox level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter as well as a link to our selection of adapters.
